Lehigh joins NCWIT

NCWIT is the National Center for Women & Information Technology, a non-profit organization chartered in 2004 by the National Science Foundation to increase the participation of girls and women in computing. Before NCWIT was formed, programs focusing on women and computing (K-12, post secondary, or corporate) existed mostly in isolation, without the benefit of shared best practices, effective resources, communication with others, or national reach.  

Lehigh University is now an Academic Alliance Member.  This means that members of the Lehigh community can be nominated for a host of awards and grant opportunities, including Undergraduate Research Mentoring, Seed Fund, Student Seed Fund, and Harrold and Notkin Research and Graduate Mentoring. We have access to NCWIT's leading-edge effective practices for recruiting and retaining women; opportunities to attend workshops and compare practices with other institutions; the ability to advertise technical faculty openings at their website; the ability to participate in NCWIT marketing and branding campaigns; collaboration opportunities with peer members on proposals, papers, and panel submissions; the benefit of project consultation with social scientists; the chance to share and learn more efforts that broaden participation in computing on the collaborative, online ACT tool.
