The National Science Foundation has issued the 2013 update to: Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in Science and Engineering which provides statistical information about the participation of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in science and engineering education and employment.
A formal report, now in the form of a digest, is issued every 2 years. Lehigh ADVANCE uses the data, especially about the percentage of PhDs awarded to women or minorities in understanding our institutional transformation. Calculate the percentage of PhDs awarded to women by using Table 7-2 and Table 7-1. Research suggests women may be drawn more to collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Lehigh ADVANCE will shed light on to what extent and how interdisciplinary work is gendered, not only in terms of participation but in terms of outcomes.
