Department Chairs from Patriot League Affiliated Institutions will learn new research and strategies to enhance gender equity at the department level, thereby influencing their department, college, institution culture and climate. They will work together in groups and have the opportunity to work alongside their Chief Academic Officers.
Background: In connection with the 2015 meeting of Patriot League Academic Network, Chief Academic Officers (CAOs) and Department Chairs will build upon previous discussions of diversity, by focusing on the topic of CAOs and Department Chairs as Agents of Change for Faculty Gender Equity. There will be sessions for CAOs and Department Chairs to work together and separately. The learning and working sessions will advance individual awareness and knowledge of research and strategies to strengthen department efforts to support gender equity among the faculty. You’ll be able to take home concrete and actionable steps to enhance your departments’, colleges’, and institutions’ culture and climate.
Symposium Format: A combination of provocative research-based presentations, facilitated case studies, breakout sessions, and collaborative networking will provide the breadth and depth of resources and strategies to expand your capacity for change. A detailed agenda will develop based on participants’ responses to the needs assessment below, and captured electronically.
