ADVANCE Small Grants Programs
Lehigh ADVANCE offers the following funding opportunities for faculty to support research and professional development.
Faculty Development Grants help move STEM faculty from discussion of interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership in meetings and seminars to action that has an impact on STEM faculty careers. Funds can be used toward travel by Lehigh STEM faculty and visiting scholars to promote interdisciplinary collaboration or for tuition and travel assistance for Lehigh women STEM faculty to attend professional leadership programs. Applications will open each August. Apply via Infoready: ADVANCE Center Grants for Faculty Development, Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Leadership.
Diverse Voices in STEM: Funds are available to help academic departments host more diverse speakers to their seminars and colloquia. Up to 5 departments will be supported this year up to $750 each; demonstration of past colloquia demographics will inform decision. Application must be made 1 month before visit. ADVANCE Small Grant: Diverse Voices in STEM.
Knowledge Builders: Do you know a scholar who studies underrepresentation in STEM? Invite them to give a talk. ADVANCE can offer joint support to academic units to invite speakers who conduct novel research around these topics.
Departments: Climate and Gender Equity research: To engage departments in research on climate and/or gender within the department or discipline, develop interdisciplinary research teams, and demonstrate the value of research on climate and/or gender and the academy, Lehigh ADVANCE will offer modest grants. Proposals should explain historic representation/underrepresentation trends and link to the department's needs to diversify the faculty. Priority will be given to projects that aid the implementation of strategic diversity and inclusion plans.
